Former Australian Idol contestant Jessica Mauboy has walked away with a swag of awards at the 15th annual Deadly Awards in Sydney.

The Deadly Awards, which honour excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, sport, entertainment, the arts and community achievement, were held at Sydney's Opera House on Thursday night.

Mauboy took out Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for her hit Burn, and Album of the Year for her debut Been Waiting.

The trio of awards followed the Darwin 20-year-old's seven Aria nominations, the most for one artist at the November 10 awards.

Gurrumul Yunupingu backed up his three Deadlys last year with another Male Artist of the Year award, while Saltwater Band was named Band of the Year.

Sportsman of the Year went to recently retired Sydney Swans legend Michael O'Loughlin, while Opals basketball star Rohanee Cox was named Sportswoman of the Year.

Stone Bros actor Luke Carroll and TV, screen and stage star Leah Purcell were named male and female actors of 2009.
