IS pint-sized singer Anthony Callea about to follow his friend Tim Campbell on to the musical theatre stage?


That's the rumour from down south, where the Australian Idol runner-up is believed to have auditioned for a new production, Wicked, set to open in Melbourne mid-year.

The show is shaping as a hot ticket, with some of the biggest names in showbiz linked to the line-up so far.

Calls to Callea's manager were met with a strangely officious response last week.

"We are not prepared to make a comment about any future direction of Anthony's career," manager Wayne Pilkington said.

Doesn't sound like Idol gossip to us.
