JUDGE Mark Holden has thrown his support behind Melbourne's Natalie Gauci to win the Australian Idol final, describing Matt Corby as a spoilt kid after last Sunday night's performance.
Speaking to Confidential yesterday, Holden was all for Gauci, saying that Corby's performance in the final was underwhelming and that it annoyed him.
He says Corby, who he believes is an amazing musician and has a real future, let himself down by not fully committing to his version of the winner's song.
He also questioned Corby's denial of his comments last week that he was not happy with the winner's song Here I Am.
"He should have just been honest and said that it's not a song that he would record and then be authentic," Holden said.
He described Corby's singing of Here I Am as a letdown.
"When you come to perform, even if you don't want to be there, you should be putting in 120 per cent," he said.
"Whatever the reasons might be, you should not let the audience see that you're not happy.
"Sunday night showed me that at this stage he's a bit like a spoilt kid, not an artist."
Corby can take some heart, however, from our Confidential Idol poll on the web.
After a slow start, he is now leading Gauci 5662 votes to 1973.
