Title: Tarisai bites off more than she can chew

Australian Idol star Marty Simpson believes his troubled fellow Idol Tarisai Vushe should learn to hold her tongue.

Simpson, who left the show on Monday night, told Livenews.com.au Vushe had to take some responsibility for her isolation from the show.

“I think the weakness Tarisai had was that she loved to bite back and if she just held a bit more composure it wouldn’t have gone as roughly as it did,” said Simpson.

While agreeing Vushe’s ostracisation from the show had helped ratings, Simpson thinks it was just part of the theatre.

‘I felt a bit sorry for her but when you look at who you want to win Australian idol I think there was an strong side of her personality that really had to be seen so everyone knows what they’re getting themselves into in case she’d won,’ he said.

Speaking to Livenews, Simpson agreed that the show gained ratings from the controversy and that Vushe was now very isolated.

“I think there could have been some kind of an attack that did help the show because it got everyone into it and it is a show.’

Vushe, once one of the favourites to win the show, has been mired in controversy for some weeks.

First the Pentecostal Christian battled against accusations the large group of Pentecostal ‘Hillsong’ Christians on the show were being supported by the large church’s music focused congregation.

Vushe, along with current Idol favourite Matt Corby, attends a Hillsong aligned church ‘ShireLive’ in southern Sydney.

And soon after she was accused by eliminee Daniel Mifsud of being rude to other contestants.

Then last week she fought bitterly with judges Mark Holden, Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson and then finally “nice judge” Marcia Hines both on screen and behind the scenes.

The judges accused her of being “fake” and presenting a sugar sweet demeanour on stage and disguising her boisterous personality.
