"American Idol" fans needn't worry that their favorite show will suffer from underexposure, as FOX has announced a busy "Idol" schedule through the Top 12.

As nearly everybody with a pulse already knows, the most popular show on television will return on Tuesday, Jan. 16 to rescue FOX's dismal line-up. The two-hour episodes on the 16th and 17th will focus on auditions in Minneapolis and Seattle. "Idol" moves to its regular Tuesday 8 p.m. ET and Wednesday 9 p.m. slots the following week with Memphis and New York auditions. Birmingham and San Antonio's best and worst will air on the 30th and 31st and Los Angeles will get its showcase on Tuesday, Feb. 6, with a "Rest of the Best" special the next night.

On Feb. 13 and 14, the Hollywood round will be documented, culminating in the announcement of the Top 24.

The next week, "Idol" viewers finally get the chance to vote, as the show follows the scheduling template set last season. On the 20th and 21st of February, in two-hour episodes, the Top 12 men and Top 12 women will perform, with an hour-long results show elminating two singers of each gender on Thursday night at 8. The next week, Tuesday and Wednesday will see the Top 10 men and Top 10 women sing in 90-minute performance episodes, with the Thursday results show taking an hour. On the 6th and 7th of March, the Top 8 men and Top 8 women will do their thing in hour-long episodes and on March 8, the Top 12 finalists are revealed.

That means that the first night of Top 12 performances, when things get truly serious, will be Tuesday, March 13. Naturally, that episode will require a full two hours. Then, on March 14, one contestant will be eliminated.
